Indonesia’s geographical location and Nation Competitiveness as an Archipelagic State with around 17,480 islands with a coastline of 95,181 km, a sea area of 5.4 million km2 or 2/3 of Indonesia’s territory of 2.7 million km2 of EEZ, then marine natural resources and energy (biological and non-biological), as well as the coastal and marine environment must be utilized and managed optimally and sustainably for the welfare of the nation. As a center for education and research, universities play a role in producing in-depth scientific knowledge about marine ecosystems, water dynamics, and the potential of marine resources owned by Indonesia. Through oceanography study programs, universities train and develop experts who can conduct exploration, mapping, and research. In the utilization, exploration, mapping, and research related to this marine potential, accurate and comprehensive information is needed, especially regarding the condition of the waters and the maritime environment. As an institution responsible for hydrographic and oceanographic surveys and mapping, the Indonesian Navy Hydro-Oceanography Center (Pushidrosal) is vital in providing the data and information needed to support various aspects of national marine development. Hydrographic and oceanographic information produced by Pushidrosal is used for multiple purposes, ranging from safe marine navigation, marine resource management, and disaster management, to maritime infrastructure development planning. Through accurate data, development in the marine sector can be carried out effectively and efficiently, as well as minimizing risks and supporting Indonesia’s maritime security and sovereignty.
Strengthening the role of Pushidrosal in supporting national marine development is very important to ensure that the utilization of Indonesia’s marine resources can run optimally, and sustainably, and contribute greatly to the prosperity of the nation. In practice, Pushidrosal collaborates in the form of the Signing of a Cooperation Agreement between Diponegoro University (Undip) and the Indonesian Navy, a strategic step that can bring long-term benefits to both institutions and to national development, especially in the context of marine and defense.
Purpose
The purpose of holding the Signing of the Cooperation Agreement between Diponegoro University (Undip) and the Indonesian Navy and the Public Lecture with the Theme “The Role of Pushidrosal in Supporting National Marine Development” is to collaborate on research and development of science between Undip and Pushidrosal so that there is development of human resource capacity, increased utilization of data and technology, and as a form of support for sustainable development that can contribute to Indonesia’s maritime sovereignty. In addition, through guest lecture activities, it is hoped that it will be able to enrich the application of knowledge in applying academic teaching materials at Undip with relevant and up-to-date materials from the fields of hydrography and oceanography managed by Pushidrosal
